International essay competition about

A future, global knowledge society – what is it really?

The consultancy company NIRAS asks this question in an international essay competition focusing on the future, global knowledge society. NIRAS has a special interest in the topic since it is a knowledge-based company and has been so for half a century. On September 1st 2006 it celebrates its 50th anniversary.

Two winners will be awarded a 1st price of EUR 16,000 and a 2nd price of EUR 8,000. They will also receive a trip to Copenhagen for the presentation of the winner essays. During their stay in Copenhagen, they will be given ample opportunity to meet with NIRAS’ customers and partners and other interesting people.

NIRAS wishes to create some new, inventive and hopefully different images of the future of the world through the essay competition. These images should focus on the future, global society of knowledge and cultural integration. The company intends to use these images in their own development and hope they may serve as an inspiration to others within Academia, in knowledge-based companies, or with an interest in these issues.

Participants in the competition must hand in an abstract in English by January 1st 2006. The abstracts will be carefully evaluated and ten participants will be asked to write an essay to be handed in on May 1st 2006.

For more information regarding the content and terms of the competition please look at www.niras.com.
